For the 2.5 million + visitors we have to Hilton Head Island each year, the Island’s over 60 miles of public pathways are an oasis of transportation. A way to get out of the car and find your way to a restaurant or beach park via pathway. But for many visitors, that just isn’t enough. They want to know the real Hilton Head Island, the parts that locals love and enjoy year round – so here you are! And you’ll see my favorites too. The air is cooling, the leaves have changed, and school is back in session, virtual or otherwise. Which means all the more reason to plan family fun activities outside the classroom. Under the stars: nightlife and entertainment on hilton head island
As any visitor to Hilton Head Island can attest, our Lowcountry days are jam-packed with things to see and do. Golfing, biking, tennis, beach days, hiking, picnics...the list goes on and on. And, best of all, the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. On Hilton Head Island we enjoy long, mellow evenings wrapped in warm ocean breezes, delicious local seafood and craft cocktails, and tons of local, live musical talent. Bring flip flops when you go to the beach on Hilton Head Island. The shores are sugar sand firm. Your bare feet may soon grumble, for this seashore is about as solid as pavement. There is good evidence for this—millennia of geologic activity and ocean waves have molded our solid strand. It is wide and level and unlike most other shores in America. Let’s find out why.
Sea Turtle Season is Here!
Beginning in early May and ending in October, Hilton Head Island is a refuge for sea turtles as they prepare to nest and lay their eggs for the season. The most common kind of sea turtle to make the shores of Hilton Head Island their nesting ground is the Loggerhead Sea Turtle, and while it can be an exciting prospect to see this spectacle of nature in the wild, it’s important to give these wonderful creatures their space so they can continue to prosper as species around the shores of America's Favorite Island® and in our oceans.
