Hilton Head Dance School/Theatre

Founding members of the Hilton Head Dance Theatre recruited Karena Brock-Carlyle, then Principal Dancer and Director of the Savannah Ballet Company, and her husband John to develop a school of ballet on Hilton Head Island. The Hilton Head Dance School opened in May of 1985 with 17 students. Today there are nearly 300 students. Aside from our ABT® Accreditation, our instructors have danced with world–renowned companies such as the American Ballet Theatre and Fosse in New York City and danced or trained with the likes of Fernando Bujones, Ted Kivitt, Mikhail Baryshnikov, David Howard, Edward Villella, Bill Carter and Madame Krassovska. They pass their knowledge from these masters to their students every day at class as the students follow a carefully regimented curriculum put together by some of the best minds in ballet.
