RBC for You, Me, and the Kids

By Becca Edwards

Since 1969, Hilton Head Island has been home to the RBC Heritage Tournament—that’s 48 years of plaid-wearing, cocktail drinking and golf gazing. And this year, event organizers are on par to make the tournament even more fun for you, me and the kids. (Note: Children 15 and younger are admitted free as long as they are with a ticketed adult.) Here’s the run down:

OPENING CEREMONIES — 11 A.M. MONDAY, APRIL 11

18TH GREEN, HARBOUR TOWN GOLF LINKS

Kick off the 48th annual RBC Heritage with the tradition of opening ceremonies and the parade, beginning at the Liberty Oak at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and ending on the 18th green. Each year, the past champion is presented with his Captain of Gentlemen’s Golf plaque and will blast a tee shot into Calibogue Sound in unison with a cannon shot, which officially begins the start of tournament week.

COCA-COLA YOUTH DAY

Putting Contest — 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12
Putting Green, behind the Harbour Town Golf Links Clubhouse
Children 15 and under are invited to putt with the pros. The first 200 kids to participate will get a free tournament souvenir. Every child who sinks a putt will also receive a prize courtesy of Coca-Cola.

FAMILY MOVIE – 4:30 – 6:00 P.M. TUESDAY, APRIL 12

Open to the entire family, fans of all ages can enjoy contests, including the Lazy Plaid Stick, hole-in-one putting, fastest dressed in plaid and best dressed, and get photos with Sir Willie. Fans have a chance to win RBC Heritage swag and tickets to the 2017 RBC Heritage.

SUNDAY SUNRISE SERVICE — 7:30-8:30 A.M. SUNDAY, APRIL 17

18th green, Harbour Town Golf Links (tournament ticket required)
The Sunrise Service will take place on the 18th green and features a local minister, music and nondenominational prayer. Fans are invited to sit in the bleachers to hear from a PGA TOUR pro who is invited to speak. The PGA TOUR professional golfer will be named prior to the tournament.
