Sea Turtle Season

As May begins, so does Sea Turtle Season on Hilton Head Island! Each year, hundreds of turtles make their way to our beaches to lay thousands of eggs. Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head Island plays a vital role during this time, heading to the beach at dawn each morning to monitor nests, collect data, and ensure the safety of these nests. Their efforts are crucial for the successful journey of turtle hatchlings to their ocean home.

Want to help protect these incredible animals? You can make a difference by cleaning up the beaches during your evening or morning strolls, keeping your lights off at night, and filling in any holes in the sand that you come across. If you're lucky, you might even spot a nest or a turtle — just be sure to give them plenty of space!
