As the only nonprofit visual arts organization on the island with a synergistic art gallery and teaching Academy, the Art League works to bring visual arts to the community and visitors of the Lowcountry through education, exhibitions, and partnerships.
The Art League Academy welcomes artists and students in all media at all skill levels, including true beginners. Taught by professional art educators, students can choose from many art classes and workshops that change monthly.

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra has been central to the Lowcountry’s lively music scene for over 40 years. Founded in 2022, Kind of Blue blends an innovative food and drink menu with top-notch entertainment, making it the perfect casual spot to immerse yourself in the island’s musical culture. Every February, visitors can take part in the Gullah Celebration. The festival features culinary experiences, live music, and history and art exhibits that celebrate the vibrant history of the Gullah people on Hilton Head Island.
Art lovers visiting between May 24-26, 2024, can’t skip the Hilton Head Island Art Festival at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Festival goers can peruse a wide selection of beautiful art — all made in the USA.
2024 marks ten years of the annual Juneteenth Celebration at Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, and events will be happening June 8-15 to celebrate. Kicking off with a 5K Run & Walk, followed by a Birdwatching Experience, the annual Drum Circle, and culminating with the 10th annual Juneteenth Celebration, this year’s celebrations are set to be a cultural experience to remember.
