United Way of the Lowcountry's Women United invites you to an extraordinary evening where generosity meets impact. Power of the Purse is more than an event - it's a movement to uplift women and children in Beaufort and Jasper Counties through essential programs that create real change. Whether you've supported us in the past or are joining us for the first time, your contribution makes a lasting difference.

WHY SUPPORT THE POWER OF THE PURSE?
Proceeds from Power of the Purse support education initiatives benefitting children and families throughout Beaufort and Jasper Counties through these programs:

Breaking Barriers to Education Fund - This fund is administered by the United Way of the Lowcountry HELPLINE. It works directly with school officials to remove financial barriers that hinder a child's education and allow them to succeed.

Operation Back Pack - Women United's Operation Backpack provides local students with backpacks filled with school supplies to start the school year, by working with school social workers to identify students not serviced by other agencies.

Mimi's Closet - The newest of our initiatives, creates special teacher supply closets, stocked with donated school and personal items, at pre-school and elementary schools throughout the Lowcountry, for needy students during the school year.

Women's Scholarship Fund - This fund supports local, non-traditional female students pursuing a higher education degree at the University of South Carolina, Beaufort or Technical College of the Lowcountry.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE POWER OF THE PURSE?
You can support Power of the Purse in many ways:

Become a sponsor. There are many levels of sponsorship, from $250 to $5,000

Donate an item to auction (e.g., Gift certificate, purse, jewelry, art, service, etc.)

Purchase tickets and attend this fun and philanthropic event

Display an invitational flyer in your place of business

United Way of the Lowcountry's Women United offers members the opportunity to become part of a dynamic, philanthropic, and fun organization of women leaders who care about our community. Our mission is to mobilize the caring power of women together to advance the common good by focusing on education in the forgotten pockets of Beaufort and Jasper counties. This group of women - previously named the Women's Leadership Council - was formed locally in 2012.
